Dear Students/Parents/Guardians,

Hello, my name is Ms. Ferenchak and I will be your 4th grade teacher this year! There are many fun and exciting things planned for you throughout the year. Some of these include learning and practicing our multiplication facts, the scientific method, learning about Arizona, how to write a story, reading comprehension, and more. Also this year we will be having a half day every Wednesday. Lunch will be provided, and students will be out of school at 12:15.

Field Trips

We will be taking frequent trips to the public library (located at 51st Avenue and Indian School, and Central and McDowell) to check out books. You will need to go and get a card ahead of time so you can check out books with us. On top of that, we are allowed two field trips this year. As these get closer, we will need to start signing up parent volunteers to go with us.

Classroom Supplies

We greatly appreciate any supplies you want to bring into our class. Some of the things we use the most are:

· Tissues

· Paper Towels

· Baby Wipes/Hand Sanitizer

Thank you to all of the parents and students who have already donated these items!

Assignments

If I hand back an assignment and you are unhappy with your grade, PLEASE FIX IT! I will be happy to re-grade it for you and change the grade. You may turn in make-up work for up to 1 week after I give it back to you. I will be sending home graded assignments every Friday. Please be on the lookout for these.

How to Contact Me

I will be sending out a newsletter about every two weeks. I also have a blog and Twitter account related to our classroom. You do not need to have a blog or Twitter account to see my updates. These accounts will be helpful for you as parents/guardians to stay up-to-date with our classroom activities and assignments. You can find my accounts here:

This Week's Assignments

This week in Reading we will be practicing reading comprehension by reading a passage and answering questions about it. In science, we are learning the scientific method and doing an experiment. Our first activities will be simple experiments. We will also be continuing place value in Math. Please be on the lookout for homework! In Writing we are discussing how to write a sentence, including capitol letters, punctuation marks, and spelling correctly.
